“NAIW (International)
serves its members by providing professional education…”
Education
is a cornerstone of NAIW (International’s) existence.
NAIW is committed to providing quality seminars, workshops and
classes that assist our members in achieving their personal and
professional goals. It is the reason NAIW was founded in 1938
and it is the very first principle in our organization’s
mission statement today.
NAIW
and IAMD offer many educational opportunities – from
the informal presentation at our monthly membership meeting to
the CE classes we offer to the insurance community.
Education
is more than just taking an insurance class or earning a designation.
NAIW offers a premier public speaking course – Confidence
While Communicating. We also offer a variety of classes on leadership
development, sales, customer service, grass roots political
action and time management.
NAIW
also provides unique education recognition for its members.
The
Certified Professional Insurance Woman/Man (CPIW/CPIM) designation
was introduced in 1968 in direct support of NAIW’s stated
goal of “promoting personal and professional development.” Attainment
of the designation offers tangible evidence of high professional
standards, a commitment to education and an awareness of industry
issues. The Diversified Advanced Education (DAE) designation
was specifically developed for NAIW members holding the CPIW/CPIM
designation, to recognize their continuing dedication to education
and the association.
NAIW
is about enabling others in education, as well. The
Insurance Scholarship Foundation of America, founded in
1993 by the members of the NAIW, provides scholarships to college
students preparing for a career in the insurance industry, and
to men and women working in the insurance industry seeking to
improve their career opportunities.
IAMD
is extremely proud to offer its own annual scholarship to a
student
at a Michigan degree-granting institution majoring
in insurance or risk management. Each scholarship recipient is
honored at IAMD’s annual Awards Dinner in June.
